Welcome to the MYC4 blog – a conversation about ‘business for a profit and profit for a purpose’.
The blog is about MYC4. It is also about Africa, business, poverty, innovation and igniting change. And it is about what you can do.
MYC4 is an on-line platform that connects you directly with African entrepreneurs who lack capital do develop their businesses. See our short film on the front page to see how it works.

Comments Policy:
The comments field on posts is open for you to give feedback to MYC4. We promise to read all of the comments, but can’t promise we will respond to them all. Comments will not be visible to the public until we have approved them.
We encourage critical comments and will release them as long as they are constructive and relevant to the topic. Constructive means you also explain the background for your criticism and come with input to how we could do things better.
We will obviously not release comments that are false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy or otherwise in violation of any law. We also won’t release comments that we think look like advertisements or have a commercial intent.
We’re a small organization, so be patient with us. We’ll try to review and approve comments at least once a week.

A blog suggestion:
What books have you read that deepened your understanding, broadened appreciation and heightened your empathy for the land and people of Agrica?
Here are some of my recent favorites:
Twelve Good Books!
1.) ”Dead Aid” by Dambisa Moyo, explains clearly why the western world’s approach to aid for Africa hasn’t worked. Heavy.
2.) ”Numer One Ladies Detective Agency” This 11 volume series of novels by Alexander McCall Smith will introduce you to a wonderfully rich world filled with mostly lovable and 1 or 2 truly hate-able people while imparting insights into the psyche of the people of Botswana and it’s neighbours. (warning: highly empathically addictive but not likely to cause cancer!) Light and fun.
Best regards
Dale
Hi Dale,
It is a good suggestion and we will ‘build’ this part as we move along (there is a lot on the plate right now), ok?
Regarding ‘Dead Aid’, I fully agree with you that it is a must read book! Upside is that the message goes hand in hand with how MYC4 perceive this world. This said, I still think that the world needs aid to get back on its own two feet (this is a longer discussion…. hey, this could become a blog post – cheers!).
As a side remark, I am going to speak with Dambisa Moyo already Tuesday next week… I am looking forward to meeting her face to face.

Keep all the good ideas floating,

I have now two times received a mail from Myc4 telling me that repayment has been made on one of my investments. It then goes on telling that the total amount repaid is 0.00 and my share is 0.00. How can that be explained???
